Title Page

The title page is the most important aspect of your plan as it gives the first impression of

the entire plan. Many people say that a book should not be judged by its cover - but this does not apply to business plans.

Bank officers and other investors are pressed for time and will always run through your report as fast as possible. However, they will always read the title page to get some idea of the prospective business, this makes the title page extremely important.

What to Include in the Title Page

  1. Essentials. Give the name of the plan, company name, address, key manager of the company, his/her phone number, the basic idea of the plan in about twenty five words or less, the name of the person who prepared the plan, the group to whom the plan is addressed, and the date. This eliminates a lot of confusion.
The twenty five word summary is unusual but will help your plan standout. Since readers frequently have problems in understanding what the plan is all about.

  2. Layout of the title page. The title page becomes more attractive and professional if the title is typeset or has various type sizes with the title and company prominent. The content of the title page should be nicely spaced out.
  3. Graphics. A photo, sketch, design or other artwork can be used if it is appropriate, in good taste and not distracting or overwhelming. The company logo or trademark is a good option for cover art. It helps to brand the company and is more businesslike and sells corporate image of the company.
  4. Binder. A folded, flat, good quality paper cover is usually a bit better than a three ring binder, because it is easier to route around the office. Remember that the reader will frequently have to use the file over and over again. Make the binder convenient easy and attractive.
  5. An overall impression of professionalism should be conveyed to the reader.
